Chandu on the Magic Island (1935)
Op het mystieke eiland Lemurië zoekt de cultus van Ubasti de Egyptische prinses Nadji om te offeren, zodat hun godin Ossana, wiens ziel in Nadji's lichaam woont, kan worden opgewekt door zwarte magie. Nadji bevindt zich in de haven van Suva in het Verre Oosten, maar wordt afgeschermd door de witte magische krachten van Frank Chandler, een Amerikaan die is opgevoed door oosterse mystici en ook bekend staat als Chandu. Wanneer Chandu echter alleen op reis gaat, is de kwaadaardige Stem van Ubasti in staat om haar op magische wijze naar Lemurië te brengen, waar zwarte magie hoogtij viert. Chandu zet de achtervolging in met zijn zus Dorothy, nichtje Betty en neef Bob; maar Chandu lijdt schipbreuk op het magische eiland en vindt zijn familie ook gevangen om te offeren terwijl hij wordt ondergedompeld in een eindeloos doolhof van grotten onder de kwaadaardige tempel, waar zowel zijn sterfelijke als magische kracht nutteloos lijken te zijn.
