Dr. David Krane is beschuldigd van de moord op zijn vrouw. Maar door een fout in de procedure gaat hij vrijuit. Omdat hij een verleden heeft als alcoholist weet hij niet zeker of hij de moord wel gepleegd heeft. Dan ontmoet hij wetenschapper Martha Briggs die bezig is een serum te ontwikkelen waarbij het geheugen van iemand anders opgewekt kan worden.
