Film over het leven van de muzikant James Brown. Brown’s leven dat begon te midden van extreme armoede in de Amerikaanse staat Georgia, totdat hij uiteindelijk uitgroeide tot de wereldberoemde en invloedrijke rhythm-and-blues-muzikant met een reeks hits in de jaren ’60 en ’70 waaronder “Please, Please, Please”, “I Got You” en “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag”.
