Restoration (1995)
Londen, de 17e eeuw. Robert is nieuwsgierig, intelligent en moedig en heeft, eenmaal gekozen voor de studie medicijnen, een schitterende toekomst voor zich. Zijn oordeel is vaak revolutionair en grensverleggend en zelfs zijn beste vriend en studiegenoot John, kijkt tegen hem op. Koning Charles ll is onder de indruk van Robert en nodigt hem uit om naar het hof te komen als een van zijn lijfartsen. Robert, die naast zijn werk als arts, de pleziertjes van het leven niet uit de weggaat, neemt de uitnodiging met beide handen aan. Een leven vol luxe staat hem te wachten. Hij krijgt zelfs een prachtig landgoed en een 'papieren' bruid toegewezen; de favoriete minnares van de koning.
