Het was op een dag in de voorjaarsvakantie – 25 maart. Araragi Koyomi, die naar de 11e klas gaat van de particuliere Naoetsu High School, ontmoet bij toeval de aantrekkelijke modelstudent Hanekawa Tsubasa. Ze vertelt hem over geruchten over een "blonde vampier" waarvan wordt gezegd dat ze de laatste tijd kattenkwaad uithaalt. Koyomi, die meestal terugdeinst voor contact met anderen, heeft een voorliefde voor het openhartige meisje, maar kort daarna ontmoet hij de mysterieuze vampier, die helemaal niet is wat hij zich van een vampier had voorgesteld. Een stervend meisje met blond haar en gouden ogen smeekt hem om hulp nadat haar ledematen op brute wijze zijn afgehakt. Kiss-shot is haar naam en als een roekeloze jongere, schenkt Koyomi haar zijn bloed, om kort daarna te ontwaken als lid van haar clan.
