François Gautier is gierig. Sparen bezorgt hem vreugde, betalen doet hem zweten. Zijn leven is ingesteld op het enige doel van nooit iets uit te geven. Een leven dat op een dag zal door elkaar geschud worden: hij wordt verliefd en ontdekt dat hij een dochter heeft waarvan hij niet wist dat ze bestond.
