Sommige mensen zijn voor het geluk geboren. Frank Pesce Jr (Anthony La Paglia) is zo'n figuur, een simpele Italiaanse jongen uit Brooklyn. Zijn vader (Danny Aiello) is helaas het tegenovergestelde. Frank Sr. koopt een doos vol loterijbriefjes, zijn zoon maar 1 en is een van de 50 finalisten die kans maken op 6.2 miljoen dollar. Zijn vader heeft een gokschuld van 10.000 dollar aan de maffia en die wil de schuld wel laten vallen tegen het wellicht winnende lot.
