The Shipping News (2001)
Quoyle is een zwijgzame veertiger met weinig zelfvertrouwen. Hij heeft genoeg van zijn huwelijk met de egoïstische Petal en keert met zijn tante en zijn dochtertje terug naar zijn geboorteplaats. In dit rustige vissersdorp gaat hij werken als verslaggever en al snel groeit zijn zelfvertrouwen. Na zijn ontmoeting met de jonge, leuke weduwe Wavey, lijkt ook de echte liefde in zijn leven te komen. Zijn geluk lijkt geen grenzen te kennen. Is Quoyle nu helemaal vrij en kan hij de rest van zijn leven genieten, of staan hem nog verrassingen te wachten...
