Down Periscope (1996)
Al zijn hele leven droomt commandant Tom Dodge er van om een atoomduikboot te besturen en na een aantal zware trainingen is hij eindelijk bevoegd. Omdat hij zeer geliefd is bij zijn bemanning, is het een onaangename verrassing voor hem wanneer hij te horen krijgt dat hij geen promotie zal maken. De marine geeft hem de opdracht om met een oude verroeste onderzeeër uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog en een stel mislukkelingen als bemanning een zee-gevecht te houden die hij, naar hij later hoort, opzettelijk dient te verliezen. Dit om er voor te zorgen dat de superieure Amerikaanse zee-vloot als een overdonderde winnaar tevoorschijn komt. Laat dit de Commandant nu net niet bevallen en hij zet alles op alles om zijn "tegenstanders" een hak te zetten.
