В доме Грисуолдов празднуют Рождество. Время, когда дарят подарки, звучат гимны, радостно мерцают огоньки рождественской елки… Но погодите-ка: эта елка вовсе не мерцает. Она вся в огне! Рождество — прекрасное время для Кларка Грисуолда и его семьи. Кларк — это стихийное бедствие, которое может обрушиться на вас в любой момент. Теперь Кларк хочет во что бы то ни стало устроить своей семье «самый веселый старомодный семейный праздник Рождества из всех. какие были, есть и будут». Ну и ну!
