Der aufs Töten programmierte Android Robert Golem (Richard Young) wurde für eine geheime Spezialabteilung des C.I.A. gegen politische Gegner eingesetzt, hat jedoch ein beunruhigendes Eigenleben entwickelt und ist flügge geworden. Ex-Agent Henry Stanton (Robert Conrad) wird reanimiert und auf den Robotermenschen angesetzt, um ihn ausfindig zu machen und auszuschalten. Man findet heraus, dass sich Golem auf einem Rachefeldzug gegen US-Regierungskreise befindet. Zusammen mit der ehemaligen C.I.A.-Agentin Mary Casallas (Karen Austin) begibt sich Stanton in Lebensgefahr, denn Golem verfügt über übermenschliche Kräfte. Eine Schwäche hingegen hat er für Ann Walsh, außerdem muss er alle 72 Stunden für 30 Minuten an die Steckdose…
