Dallas Buyers Club (2013)
Dallas, 1985: Der Cowboy Ron Woodroof führt ein exzessives Leben auf der Überholspur. Rodeos, Alkohol, Koks und Frauen bestimmen seinen Alltag. Als Woodroof wegen einer Schlägerei im Krankenhaus landet, eröffnet ihm der Arzt nach einer Routineuntersuchung, dass er HIV-positiv ist und nur noch 30 Tage zu leben hat. Die Welt des homophoben Texaners bricht zusammen. Nachdem ihm das von seiner Ärztin Dr. Eve Saks verschriebene, einzige legale Medikament AZT mehr schadet als nutzt, sucht er nach Alternativen. Ron wird in Mexiko fündig und beginnt, die in den USA illegalen Medikamente im großen Stil ins Land zu schmuggeln. Um sein Geschäft noch lukrativer zu machen, lässt er sich auf einen Deal mit dem homosexuellen Rayon ein: Gemeinsam gründen sie den „Dallas Buyers Club“.
