Günstling einer Königin (1939)
Tudorkönigin Elizabeth regiert umgeben von intriganten Höflingen, die um ihre Gunst buhlen. Sie liebt den jungen Earl of Essex, der jedoch nach Irland in den Kampf gegen Rebellen zieht. Seine Briefe an die Königin werden von Neidern abgefangen, woraufhin Elizabeth Essex' Rückkehr befiehlt. Der ebenfalls Erzürnte besetzt mit seinen Leuten den Palast, bis sich das Missverständnis aufklärt. Elizabeth befiehlt dennoch seine Hinrichtung wegen Hochverrat.
