Misery (1990)
Der Autor Paul Sheldon hatte jahrelangen Erfolg mit den Liebesromanen über seine Figur Misery Chastain. Doch jetzt hat er die Nase voll und will andere Bücher schreiben. Als er jedoch im Schnee einen Autounfall hat, findet ihn ausgerechnet Annie Wilkes, der wohl größte lebende Misery-Fan. Annie, die ihn erkennt, pflegt ihn auf eigene Gefahr gesund, obwohl Paul schwer verletzt ist. Denn Annie ist im Stillen schon eine Psychopathin, die ihre Misery auf jeden Fall zurückhaben will. Also zwingt sie Paul, einen neuen Misery-Roman zu schreiben, so wie sie ihn haben will. Und wenn er nicht spurt, schreckt sie auch vor körperlicher Gewalt nicht zurück …
