Engelsgesicht (1953)
Als Fahrer eines Ambulanzwagens wird Frank Jessup in die Villa der Familie Tremayne gerufen, wo Catherine Tremayne knapp eine mysteriöse Gasvergiftung überlebt hat. Dabei lernt Frank ihre schöne Stieftochter Diane kennen. Obwohl ihm ihr offenkundiges Interesse schmeichelt, bleibt Frank distanziert. Doch ehe er sich versieht, ist er in eine Affäre mit der kühlen Schönen geraten. Nicht lange, und Diane hat ihn mit List und Lügen seiner alten Freundin abspenstig gemacht. Sie überredet ihn, sich als Chauffeur bei ihrer Familie zu verdingen. Als Frank dämmert, dass Diane ihn dazu benutzen will, ihre verhasste Stiefmutter loszuwerden, will er sich von ihr abwenden. Doch da inszeniert Diane einen tödlichen Autounfall für ihre Stiefmutter, bei dem allerdings auch ihr geliebter Vater ums Leben kommt. Frank wird zusammen mit Diane des Mordes angeklagt. Ihr Anwalt überredet sie, zu heiraten, um die Jury auf ihre Seite zu ziehen. Widerwillig spielt Frank das Spiel mit...
