Laura (1944)
An einem heißen Wochenende in New York City, im Jahr 1941, wird die erfolgreiche Geschäftsfrau Laura Hunt, der alle Männer verfallen, die ihr begegnen, tot in ihrer Wohnung aufgefunden. Der Mörder hat der schönen jungen Frau aus nächster Nähe mit einer Flinte ins Gesicht geschossen, als sie ahnungslos ihre Wohnungstür öffnete. Die Tote, nur mit einem Morgenrock bekleidet, wird von Bessie, dem Dienstmädchen, entdeckt. Waldo Lydecker, ein bekannter Radiokolumnist und Freund der Verstorbenen, beginnt schon einen Tag später, ihre Geschichte niederzuschreiben. Er bekommt Besuch von dem Kriminalbeamten Mark McPherson, der mit den Ermittlungen um den aufsehenerregenden Mord beauftragt worden ist...
