Ein riesiger Kubus, bis zum Rand gefüllt mit feindlichen Robotern, ist auf der Erde gelandet. Die Menschheit kann den technisch überlegenen Gegnern nichts entgegensetzen und wird kurzerhand weggesperrt. Jeder Mensch wird mit einem elektronischen Implantat versehen, das den Roboter-Patrouillen mitteilt, wenn jemand sein Haus verlässt. Nach einem kurzen Countdown wird der Freigänger bei lebendigem Leib verbrannt. Eine Gruppe Jugendlicher in einer Kleinstadt im von Robotern besetzten Großbritannien scheint die einzige Hoffnung der Menschen zu sein, sich der maschinellen Bedrohung zu widersetzen. Allen voran ein Teenager bietet den Robotern mit seinen übernatürlichen Fähigkeiten die Stirn.
