Carol (2015)
Therese träumt von einem Job als Setdesignerin beim Theater, doch stattdessen ist sie mit Richard zusammen, den sie eigentlich gar nicht liebt. So schlägt sie sich durchs New York der 1950er Jahre und versucht, sich mit einem Job in einem Kaufhaus über Wasser zu halten. Eines Tages trifft sie Carol, die Therese sogleich ihre Adresse gibt, damit ihre Einkäufe dorthin geliefert werden können. Aus einem Impuls heraus schickt Therese Carol eine Karte zu Weihnachten, auf die sie wider Erwarten eine Antwort erhält. Verbunden durch das Gefühl der Einsamkeit, beginnen die beiden Frauen immer mehr Zeit miteinander zu verbringen. Dabei entwickelt Therese starke Gefühle für Carol – sehr zum Missfallen von Carols Mann Harge. Dieser droht, seiner Frau das Sorgerecht für die gemeinsame Tochter zu entziehen. Alles, was er dazu braucht, sind handfeste Beweise für die geheime Liebschaft der Frauen. Harge zieht alle Register und engagiert einen Privatdetektiv, den er auf Therese und Carol ansetzt.
