Ferien in der Hölle (1971)
John Grant hat große Pläne und wenig Geld. Um seinen Traum von der Journalistenkarriere in England verwirklichen zu können, ist er auf jeden Dollar angewiesen und nimmt – zwar widerwillig – eine Stelle als Grundschullehrer im australischen Outback an. Während der Weihnachtsferien zieht es ihn schleunigst nach Sydney, wo seine Freundin bereits mit dem Surfbrett auf ihn wartet. Eigentlich will John nur eine Nacht in der ehemaligen Mienenstadt Yabba verbringen. Doch die Nacht ist so einsam und das Bier so angenehm kühl. Kurzum: John versumpft hoffnungslos an der Bar und kommt mit den Dorfbewohnern ins Gespräch. Schnell wird aus dem unfreiwilligen Zwischenstopp Johns eigentliches Ziel. Denn die Gastfreundschaft der Einheimischen ist legendär. Doch schnell merkt John: In Yabba ticken die Uhren anders...
