Land der schwarzen Sonne (1990)
1845 brechen die Abenteurer John Speke und Richard Burton zu einer gefährlichen Expedition in die unentdeckte afrikanische Wildnis auf, um den Ursprung des Nils zu erforschen. Trotz ihrer gegensätzlichen Charaktere sind die Männer enge Freunde. Doch ihre erste Expedition endet in einer Katastrophe: Bei einem Überfall der Eingeborenen werden viele Männer des Forschungstrupps getötet. Speke und Burton müssen nach England zurückkehren. Das Geheimnis des Nils lässt ihnen weiter keine Ruhe, doch durch Eifersucht und Ehrgeiz werden die einstigen Freunde zu erbitterten Feinden…
