Restoration - Zeit der Sinnlichkeit (1995)
Im London des Jahres 1660 sichert sich der Medizinstudent Merivel dank eines kühnen operativen Eingriffs die Gunst von König Charles II. Schnell steigt der junge Mann zum Liebling des Monarchen auf, bedacht mit Privilegien und stattlichem Einkommen. Als Merivel sich jedoch in die Mätresse des Königs verliebt, wird er ohne Geld und Titel davongejagt. Fünf Jahre später kehrt ein geläuterter Merivel nach London zurück und beginnt, sich aufopferungsvoll um die Opfer der Pest, die inzwischen in der Stadt wütet, zu kümmern.
