Die Nacht begann am Morgen (1950)
Auf einer Übungsfahrt kollidiert ein mit 12 Mann besetztes britisches U-Boot unter dem Kommando von Lt. Cmdr. Armstrong (John Mills) mit einer Mine und sinkt. Verzweifelt kämpfen der Kommandant und seine junge und unerfahrene Besatzung darum, das Boot halten zu können. Zeitgleich läuft eine gefährliche Rettungsmission an, denn der eingeschlossenen U-Boot-Besatzung bleibt nicht viel Zeit...
