Der englische Patient (1996)
Italien während des Zweiten Weltkriegs: In einem verlassenen Kloster pflegt die Schwester Hana den ungarischen Grafen Almásy, der mit seinem Flugzeug von den Nazis abgeschossen wurde und bis zur Unkenntlichkeit verbrannt ist. Ganz allmählich beginnt sich Almásy an seine tragische Romanze mit der verheirateten Katharine zu erinnern.
