König David (1985)
Das Volk Israel wird um das Jahr 1000 v. Chr. von seinem ersten König Saul regiert. Doch der den göttlichen Willen vermittelnde Samuel bestimmt einen unbedeutenden Hirtenjungen namens David dazu, den amtierenden Herrscher abzulösen. Als David im Krieg den scheinbar hoffnungslos überlegenen Philister-Krieger Goliath besiegt, bestätigt sich eindrucksvoll seine Auserwähltheit. Saul wiederum wehrt sich gegen sein Los - vergebens. Als König ist David dann zunächst eine erfolgreiche Amtszeit beschieden...
