The Last of the High Kings (1996)
Irland, Mitte der 70er Jahre, genauer gesagt: in Dublin. Frankie Griffin (Jared Leto) ist gerade mal blutjunge 17 Jahre alt und steht zwischen seinem Schulexamen und seinem Universitätsstudium. Wobei der junge Mann mit der Angst kämpft, die Abschlussprüfung nicht bestanden zu haben. In dieser Phase der Unwissenheit und Unentschlossenheit bekommt Frankie Besuch aus den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika. Der Besuch hört auf den Namen Erin (Christina Ricci) und ist schwer verknallt in Frankie. DIeser jedoch hat nur Augen für zwei Mädchen aus seiner Schule und so kommt es zwischen den beiden zu nichts. Während Erin wieder abreist, trifft sich Frankie mit einer Freundin. Weil diese aber, anders Frankies Familie, nicht katholisch erzogen ist, hat Frankies Mutter Cathleen (Catherine O'Hara) Bedenken.
