Projekt: Peacemaker (1997)
Irgendwo im unwegsamen russischen Ural befinden sich zwei Züge auf Kollisionskurs. Der eine hat Passagiere an Bord, der andere transportiert zehn Atomsprengköpfe, die in der Folge des START-Abkommens über nukleare Abrüstung in ein Entsorgungslager gebracht werden sollen. Nur kurz nach dem unerklärlichen Zusammenstoß der beiden Züge kommt es zu einer gewaltigen Atomexplosion, in deren Folge die Alarmglocken in Moskau wie Washington läuten. Denn neun der zehn an Bord gebrachten Sprengköpfe wurden vor der Detonation gestohlen. Acht davon sollen, so wird rasch klar, in ein Schwellenland geschmuggelt werden, die neunte jedoch in New York für eine Katastrophe sorgen. Lt. Col. Thomas Devoe und Atomwaffenexpertin Dr. Julia Kelly versuchen, das zu verhindern.
