My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
Im griechischen Restaurant der Familie in Chicago arbeiten und einen Griechen heiraten, das ist der jungen Griechin Toula zu wenig, sie will mehr vom Leben. Vor allem als sie bei ihrem neuen Job im Reisebüro den attraktiven Lehrer Ian Miller kennenlernt und sich in ihn verliebt. Eine Weile kann sie ihm heimlich treffen, doch schließlich erfährt die Famlilie davon. Toulas Vater läuft Sturm, als er von der geplanten Hochzeit erfährt, doch er muß zähneknirschend mitmachen. Doch bevor es soweit ist, erwartet alle Beteiligten ein Kulturclash erster Güte, denn Ian muß mit Toulas zahlreicher Familie zurechtkommen, während die ihn erst einmal akzeptieren lernen muß. Und auch Toula hat noch viel über sich zu lernen...
