Dabney Wharton Coleman war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Er wurde für seine Rollen als egomanische und unsympathische Charaktere in komödiantischen Darstellungen bekannt. Im Laufe seiner Karriere trat er in über 175 Filmen und Fernsehsendungen auf und erhielt Auszeichnungen sowohl für komödiantische als auch für dramatische Leistungen. Zu Colemans bekanntesten Filmen gehören „9 to 5“ (1980), „Am goldenen See“ (1981), „Tootsie“ (1982), „WarGames“ (1983), „Cloak & Dagger“ (1984) und „E-Mail für Dich“ (1998). Zu seinen wichtigsten Fernsehrollen gehörten Merle Jeeter in „Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman“ (1976–1977), die Titelfiguren in „Buffalo Bill“ (1983–1984) und „The Slap Maxwell Story“ (1987–1988) sowie Burton Fallin in „The Guardian“ (2001–2004). Später in seiner Karriere verkörperte er Louis „The Commodore“ Kaestner in „Boardwalk Empire“ (2010–2011). Seine letzte Rolle war ein Auftritt in „Yellowstone“ (2019). Als Synchronsprecher lieh er dem Direktor Peter Prickly in „Recess“ (1997–2001) und in mehreren auf der Serie basierenden Filmen seine Stimme. Coleman gewann einen Primetime Emmy Award bei sechs Nominierungen und einen Golden Globe Award bei drei Nominierungen.
