Biografie:

John Arthur Carradine, besser bekannt als David Carradine, wird 1936 in Hollywood als Sohn von John Carradine, einem bekannten US-Schauspieler, geboren. Carradine beschließt nach zwei Jahren bei der Armee eine Schauspielkarriere zu starten, ändert jedoch seinen Namen, um nicht mit seinem berühmten Vater verwechselt zu werden. Seinen Durchbruch feiert David Carradine 1965 mit einer Theaterproduktion am Broadway. 1972 wird der US-Amerikaner für die Rolle des Shaolin Kwai Chang Caine in der TV-Serie Kung Fu gecastet. Die Martial – Arts – Serie wird zu einem enormen Erfolg und macht Carradine einem breiten Publikum bekannt. Obwohl er Ende der 70er Jahre noch mit Regiegrößen wie Martin Scorsese und Ingmar Bergman arbeitet, kommt es in den 80er Jahren zum großen Karriereknick. Erst Quentin Tarantino verhilft ihm 2003 zum Comeback mit einer der Titelrollen in Kill Bill: Volume 1. David Carradine wird für seine Darstellung des Gegenspielers von Uma Thurman sogar mit einer Golden Globe – Nominierung bedacht. 2009 wird der US-Amerikaner tot in einem Hotelzimmer in Bangkok aufgefunden. Die Behörden gehen von einem Unfall während eines autoerotischen Erstickungsspiels aus.
