Richard Simmons war ein amerikanischer Schauspieler. Er spielte eine Reihe kleinerer Rollen in MGM-Filmen, erlangte aber erst Mitte der 1950er Jahre einen gewissen Bekanntheitsgrad, als er die Hauptrolle in der halbstündigen, syndizierten Fernsehserie Sergeant Preston of the Yukon (1955) übernahm.
