Ted, Doug und Angie sind drei ehemalige Soldaten, die sich versprochen haben, sich an einem Tag, dem 11.10.1955, wiederzusehen, und zwar in einer Bar in New York. Tatsächlich tauchen alle drei dort auf, doch ihre Freundschaft von damals hat sich seither verändert. Ein Organisator will das Trio dennoch in einer Livesendung im Fernsehen zusammenbringen, was dadurch erschwert wird, daß eine Gruppe von Gangstern hinter einem von ihnen her ist.
