Steven Geray, geboren als Istvan Gyergyay (10. November 1904 – 26. Dezember 1973), war ein Filmschauspieler, der in über 100 Filmen und Dutzenden von Fernsehsendungen mitwirkte. Zu seinen bekanntesten Filmen zählen „Spellbound“ (1945), „Gilda“ (1946), „In a Lonely Place“ (1950), „Alles über Eva“ (1950), „Nenn mich Madam“ (1953) und „Über den Dächern von Nizza“ (1955). Er wurde in Ungvár, Österreich-Ungarn (heute Uschhorod, Ukraine), geboren und studierte an der Universität Budapest. Sein Bühnendebüt gab er am Ungarischen Nationaltheater unter seinem Geburtsnamen. Knapp vier Jahre später, 1934, feierte er sein Londoner Bühnendebüt (als Steven Geray) in dem Stück „Happy Week-End!“. Er begann 1935 in englischsprachigen Filmen aufzutreten und zog 1941 nach Hollywood. Im selben Jahr spielte er an der Seite seiner Frau Magda Kun in dem Film „Dance Band“. Geray erhielt die Hauptrolle in dem Low-Budget-Film noir „So Dark the Night“ (1946). Trotz des geringen Budgets wurde der Film von der Kritik hochgelobt und ermöglichte es Regisseur Joseph H. Lewis, später auch A-Filme zu drehen. Geray arbeitete bis in die 1960er-Jahre hinein für Fernsehen und Film. Dazu gehörten ein Gastauftritt in der Serie „Perry Mason“ (1962) als Erpresser und Mordopfer Franz Moray in der Folge „Der Fall der Ersatzschwester“, drei Episoden der „George Burns and Gracie Allen Show“ als französischer Modedesigner Gaston Broussard (1956), darunter die extravagante Folge „Eine Pariser Kreation“, sowie verschiedene Arztrollen in der „Danny Thomas Show“. Ende der 1960er-Jahre lebte Geray einige Zeit in Estes Park, Colorado, wo er das lokale Theaterstück „The Fantasticks“ inszenierte. Von 1969 bis 1970 war er Inhaber und Betreiber einer Bar in Estes Park.
