Der Meisterdetektiv muß diesmal in die Wüste fahren, um der um ihr Leben besorgten Frau eines berühmten Wissenschaftlers zu helfen. Daß die Bedrohte aus der Familie der im Giftmischen geübten Borgias stammt, gibt dem Auftrag eine besondere Note.
