Frank Reicher (2. Dezember 1875 – 19. Januar 1965) war ein in Deutschland geborener US-amerikanischer Bühnen- und Filmschauspieler, Regisseur und Produzent. Bekannt wurde er vor allem durch seine Rolle als Captain Englehorn in dem Film „King Kong“ von 1933. Reicher gab sein Broadway-Debüt im Jahr seiner Ankunft in Amerika als Lord Tarquin in Harrison Fiskes Inszenierung von „Becky Sharp“, einer Komödie von Langdon Mitchell, die auf William Makepeace Thackerays „Vanity Fair“ basiert. Seine frühen Jahre verbrachte er am klassischen Theater, sowohl am Broadway als auch Off-Broadway. Er leitete die Brooklyn Stock Company, als Jacob P. Adler „Der Kaufmann von Venedig“ auf Jiddisch inszenierte, während die übrigen Darsteller auf Englisch blieben. Reicher war mehrere Jahre lang als Schauspieler und Manager mit dem Little Theatre in der West 44th Street verbunden und blieb bis weit in die 1920er-Jahre als Schauspieler, Regisseur und Produzent am Broadway aktiv. Auf der Bühne spielte Reicher unter anderem in der Broadway-Uraufführung von Georg Kaisers „Von Morgen bis Mitternacht“ (als Kassierer) und in der Originalproduktion von Percy MacKayes „Die Vogelscheuche“ (in der Titelrolle). Dem heutigen Publikum ist Frank Reicher wahrscheinlich eher als Nebendarsteller im Film bekannt. Seine Filmkarriere begann 1915 mit einer nicht im Abspann erwähnten Rolle in dem Film „Der Fall Becky“ (Originaltitel: „The Case for Becky“). Insgesamt wirkte er in über zweihundert Filmen mit. Am bekanntesten ist er wohl für seine Darstellung des Captain Englehorn in „King Kong“ und „Der Sohn von Kong“ sowie für seine Mitwirkung in Filmen wie „Das erstaunliche Leben des Walter Mitty“ (1947) und „Küss den Morgen, gnädig sein“ (1950). Seine letzte Hollywood-Rolle hatte er 1951 in dem allerersten Superman-Kinofilm „Superman und die Maulwurfsmenschen“. Frank Reicher starb im Alter von 89 Jahren in einem Krankenhaus in Inglewood, Kalifornien. Er hinterließ eine Schwester und einen Bruder. Seine Beisetzung fand auf dem Inglewood Park Cemetery statt.
