Brittany Anne Murphy-Monjack (geb. Bertolotti; 10. November 1977 – 20. Dezember 2009) war eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin und Sängerin. Murphy wurde in Atlanta geboren, zog als Teenager nach Los Angeles und verfolgte eine Schauspielkarriere. Ihr Durchbruch kam mit der Rolle der Tai Frasier in Clueless (1995), gefolgt von Nebenrollen in Independent-Filmen wie Freeway (1996) und Bongwater (1998). Ihr Bühnendebüt gab sie 1997 in einer Broadway-Produktion von Arthur Millers A View from the Bridge, bevor sie als Daisy Randone in Durchgeknallt (1999) und als Lisa Swenson in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999) auftrat. In den 2000er Jahren trat Murphy neben Michael Douglas in Don't Say a Word (2001) und neben Eminem in 8 Mile (2002) auf, wofür sie Anerkennung bei den Kritikern erhielt. Zu ihren späteren Rollen gehörten Riding in Cars with Boys (2001), Spun (2002), Just Married (2003), Uptown Girls (2003), Sin City (2005) und Happy Feet (2006). Murphy sprach auch Luanne Platter in der Zeichentrickserie King of the Hill (1997–2010). Ihr letzter Film, Something Wicked, kam im April 2014 in die Kinos. Am 20. Dezember 2009 starb Murphy unter umstrittenen Umständen im Alter von 32 Jahren. Der Gerichtsmediziner stellte eine Lungenentzündung fest, die durch Anämie und die Abhängigkeit von verschiedenen verschreibungspflichtigen Medikamenten verschlimmert wurde.
