Anthony Warde (4. November 1908 – 8. Januar 1975) war ein bekannter US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, der zwischen 1937 und 1964 in über 150 Filmen mitwirkte. Der aus Pennsylvania stammende Warde begann seine Hollywood-Karriere in „Escape by Night“ und spielte in einigen unbedeutenden Spielfilmen, bevor er in den 1930er- und 1940er-Jahren als einer der fleißigsten Handlanger in Serien bekannt wurde. Warde gab sein Filmdebüt 1936, verbrachte aber die meiste Zeit damit, Serienhelden als brutaler Leibwächter, Anführer einer Unterwelt oder berüchtigter Viehdieb zu terrorisieren. Er überzeugte jedoch auch in Charakterrollen und übernahm gelegentlich sympathische Charaktere. Im Laufe seiner Karriere verkörperte er meist zwielichtige Figuren, darunter auch in Low-Budget-Krimis und Western. Er wirkte außerdem in populären Serien wie „Flash Gordons Reise zum Mars“ (1938) von Universal mit. Für Columbia spielte er in „Die Rückkehr der Spinne“ (1941) und „Batman“ (1943) sowie für Republic in „Der maskierte Marvel“ (1943), „Das lila Monster schlägt zu“ (1945) und „Die Schwarze Witwe“ (1947). Am bekanntesten ist Warde jedoch wohl für seine Rolle als Killer Kane, der Gangsterboss der Erde, in Universals Verfilmung von „Buck Rogers“ (1939). In den 1950er-Jahren hatte er zahlreiche Fernsehauftritte, unter anderem einen kurzen Gastauftritt als Geldfälscher in zwei Folgen von „Amos 'N' Andy“. Seinen letzten Filmauftritt hatte Warde in „Die Unersättlichen“, der Verfilmung von Harold Robbins’ Bestsellerroman aus dem Jahr 1964. Nach seiner Schauspielkarriere betrieb er ein Herrenbekleidungsgeschäft. Anthony Warde starb im Alter von 66 Jahren in Hollywood, Kalifornien.
