For over 20 years, Ángel Romero has dedicated himself fully to artistic activity in his native region of Cusco. His training is primarily self-taught, but he also supplemented it with film workshops held in various regions of Peru and Lima. His merit also lies in having worked under the direction of prominent Peruvian film directors and filmmakers. His studies in Anthropology, combined with his musical artistic activity and prior research, perfectly blended with his Ethnographic Documentaries and the Regional Anthropological Cinema that Ángel has developed over this time. This fusion has earned him several Film Awards and Competitions, Honorable Mentions at Festivals and Exhibitions, and opportunities to work in various contexts around the world. The philosophy that drives and nourishes Ángel's activity is to take Peruvian regional cinema, that is, to collect our traditional regional 'local' manifestations, and take them to 'universal' and global contexts, all through the aesthetics and universal approach of an 'ad hoc' audiovisual language that allows us to fulfill these objectives.
