Dans le monde souterrain de la mine, un groupe d'ouvriers humains est traité comme des esclaves sous le pouvoir du seigneur maléfique Zygon, jusqu'à ce que l'un d'eux, Orin, déterre la poignée d'une épée mythique qu'il est le seul à pouvoir maîtriser. S'échappant de la planète, il rencontre le contrebandier Dagg, deux droïdes utiles et la princesse, qui s'associent pour retourner dans le monde minier avec un plan pour vaincre Zygon et libérer les esclaves d'Orin.
