Biographie:

William Oliver Stone est un réalisateur et scénariste américain. Stone s'est fait connaître à la fin des années 1980 et au début des années 1990 pour avoir réalisé une série de films sur la guerre du Vietnam, auxquels il avait participé en tant que soldat d'infanterie américain. Son travail se concentre fréquemment sur des questions politiques et culturelles contemporaines, souvent controversées. Il a reçu trois Oscars: Meilleur scénario adapté pour Midnight Express (1978), et Meilleur réalisateur pour Platoon (1986) et Né le 4 juillet (1989). Le journal britannique The Guardian l'a décrit comme «l'un des rares hommes de gauche engagés à travailler dans le cinéma américain grand public». Les films de Stone utilisent souvent de nombreux appareils photo et formats de film différents, y compris les films VHS, 8 mm et 70 mm. Il utilise parfois plusieurs formats dans une même scène, comme dans Natural Born Killers (1994) et JFK (1991).
