Myrna Loy (2 août 1905 - 14 décembre 1993) était une actrice américaine. Danseuse de formation, elle se consacre pleinement à une carrière d'actrice après quelques petits rôles dans des films muets. À l'origine typée dans des rôles exotiques, souvent en tant que vampire ou femme d'origine asiatique, ses perspectives de carrière se sont améliorées après son interprétation de Nora Charles dans The Thin Man (1934). Son jumelage réussi avec William Powell a donné lieu à 14 films ensemble, dont cinq films Thin Man ultérieurs. Bien que Loy n'ait jamais été nominée pour un Oscar compétitif, en mars 1991, elle a reçu un Oscar honoraire avec l'inscription "En reconnaissance de ses qualités extraordinaires à la fois à l'écran et hors tension, avec une appréciation pour une vie de performances indélébiles." Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Loy a été assistant du directeur du bien-être militaire et naval de la Croix-Rouge. Elle a ensuite été nommée membre extraordinaire de la Commission américaine auprès de l'UNESCO. Sa carrière d'actrice ne s'est en aucun cas terminée dans les années 1940. Elle a continué à rechercher activement des apparitions sur scène et à la télévision en plus des films au cours des décennies suivantes.
