Timothy « Tim » Francis Robbins (né le 16. Octobre 1958 à West Covina, Californie) est un acteur, réalisateur, scénariste, producteur, activiste et musicien américain. Il a reçu l'Oscar du meilleur acteur de soutien pour sa performance dans Mystic River. Après de nombreuses petites apparitions à la télévision, Robbins a joué un rôle dans Top Gun en 1986 – ils ne craignent ni la mort ni le diable, l'un des films les plus réussis de la décennie. Cependant, il n'a fait la percée finale qu'en 1988 avec les hommes d'Annie. Au début des années 1990, il a été vu, entre autres, dans les films Cadillac Man avec Robin Williams, Jungle Fever de Spike Lee et Short Cuts de Robert Altman. Altman l'a également occupé pour le rôle-titre de sa satire The Player, pour lequel Robbins a reçu le prix du meilleur acteur et un Golden Globe au Festival international du film de Cannes en 1992. Il a remporté un autre grand succès avec le drame carcéral Les condamnés, basé sur un roman de Stephen King et nominé pour sept Oscars. En plus de sa carrière d'acteur, Robbins a travaillé trois fois en tant que réalisateur et scénariste : en 1992, il a tourné Bob Roberts, en 1995 le célèbre drame Dead Man Walking – Son dernier gang, qui lui a valu une nomination pour l'Oscar du réalisateur. Susan Sarandon a reçu le prix dans la catégorie Meilleure actrice. En 1999, Tim Robbins a mis en scène Le navire oscillant (Cradle Will Rock). Pour Mystic River de Clint Eastwood, Robbins a reçu un Oscar du meilleur acteur de soutien en 2004. En octobre 2008, Robbins a reçu une étoile sur le Hollywood Walk of Fame dans la catégorie Film.
