Frances Mayes, abbandonata dal marito, prende la decisione della vita: va a vivere in Toscana, terra che richiama emozioni lontane, dimenticate, fonte di ispirazione e rigenerazione. In questa atmosfera bucolica poteva mancare il sentimento per eccellenza? Ed ecco l'amore apparire, con il volto di Raoul Bova, un po' buttero e un po' latin lover, che conquista la bella scrittrice (la protagonista poteva fare un lavoro diverso?) e la conduce attraverso un mondo inesplorato.
