Narciso nero (1947)
Un gruppo di suore anglicane, guidate da suor Clodagh, vengono inviate su una montagna dell'Himalaya. Il clima nella regione è ostile e le suore sono ospitate in uno strano palazzo antico. Lavorano per stabilire una scuola e un ospedale, ma lentamente la loro attenzione si sposta. La sorella Ruth si innamora di un funzionario governativo, il signor Dean, e inizia a mettere in discussione il suo voto di celibato. Mentre Sorella Ruth è ossessionata dal signor Dean, la sorella Clodagh si immerge nei suoi ricordi d'amore.
