Il genio della truffa Roy Courtnay non riesce a credere alla propria fortuna quando incontra online la benestante vedova Betty McLeish. Mentre Betty gli apre le porte di casa e della sua vita, Roy rimane sorpreso scoprendosi affezionato alla donna: quella che sarebbe dovuta essere una truffa veloce e rapida si trasforma in un percorso da funambolo – il più infido della sua vita.
