James Edward Carter (nato il 19 agosto 1948) è un attore inglese. È noto soprattutto per il suo ruolo in Downton Abbey (2010–2015) nel ruolo di Mr Carson, ruolo che gli ha valso quattro nomination al Primetime Emmy Award come Miglior Attore Non Protagonista in una Serie Drammatica (2012–2015).
