Mai senza mia figlia (1991)
Nel 1984 Betty Mahmoody vive nel Michigan con la piccola Mahtob ed il marito Moody. Questi è un medico iraniano che da venti anni si è integrato negli Stati Uniti, anche se a volte i colleghi ironizzano sulla sua pelle molto scura e le sue capacità professionali. Poiché lui, dopo dieci anni di assenza da Teheran, insiste per andare a visitare i suoi e far loro conoscere moglie e figlia - sebbene l'Iran sia in piena guerra - Betty acconsente. Un nugolo di congiunti li attende all'aeroporto con fiori e feste, ma il clima fa presto a cambiare. Betty e la piccola devono, come d'uso, prendere i pasti con le donne di casa, c'è la grossa difficoltà della lingua, l'americana deve portare lo chador. Ma ecco improvvisa la trasformazione di Moody: da padre e marito.
