Edward Allen Harris (nato il 28 novembre 1950 a Englewood, nel New Jersey) è un attore, regista e sceneggiatore statunitense, noto per le sue interpretazioni intense e per i numerosi ruoli in film drammatici e thriller. Dopo gli studi teatrali, Harris inizia la carriera tra teatro e televisione negli anni Settanta, debuttando al cinema nel 1978 con Coma profondo. Negli anni successivi si distingue in film come The Right Stuff - Uomini veri (1983), Alamo Bay (1985) e Walker (1987), affermandosi come interprete di grande intensità. La consacrazione arriva negli anni Novanta grazie a ruoli in film come The Abyss (1989), Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), The Firm (1993), Apollo 13 (1995), The Truman Show (1998) e Nemico pubblico (1998). Per Apollo 13 riceve una candidatura all'Oscar come miglior attore non protagonista, mentre per The Truman Show ottiene una seconda candidatura nella stessa categoria. Nel 2000 debutta alla regia con Pollock, nel quale interpreta anche il pittore Jackson Pollock. La sua interpretazione gli vale una candidatura all'Oscar come miglior attore protagonista. Successivamente recita in film come A Beautiful Mind (2001), The Hours (2002), A History of Violence (2005), Gone Baby Gone (2007), Snowpiercer (2013), Mother! (2017) e Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Harris è inoltre noto per il ruolo del misterioso Man in Black nella serie televisiva Westworld (2016–2022), interpretazione che gli vale diverse candidature ai Primetime Emmy Award. Nel corso della sua carriera ha ricevuto quattro candidature agli Oscar e si è affermato come uno degli interpreti più rispettati del cinema statunitense contemporaneo.
