Ian Holm (nato il 12 settembre 1931 e scomparso il 19 giugno 2020) è stato un attore britannico, considerato uno dei più grandi interpreti del cinema e del teatro della sua generazione. Dopo una lunga esperienza sul palcoscenico con la Royal Shakespeare Company, ha iniziato a farsi conoscere anche al cinema grazie a interpretazioni intense e raffinate. Ha ottenuto la fama internazionale con il film Momenti di gloria (1981), per il quale ha ricevuto una candidatura all'Oscar come miglior attore non protagonista. Nel corso della sua carriera ha recitato in numerosi film celebri, tra cui Alien, dove ha interpretato l'androide Ash, Brazil, Il quinto elemento, Ratatouille e Il Signore degli Anelli, nella quale ha vestito i panni dell'amato personaggio di Bilbo Baggins. Dotato di una straordinaria versatilità, Ian Holm ha saputo interpretare ruoli drammatici, fantastici e comici con grande eleganza e profondità. Con una carriera durata oltre sessant'anni, è ricordato come uno degli attori britannici più rispettati e influenti della storia del cinema.
