De verwende en stoutmoedige kat Buzzy beschouwt de liefde en zorg van zijn baasje Roos - die hem redde en adopteerde als kitten - als vanzelfsprekend. Nadat zijn negende (en laatste) leven afgerond is, smeekt hij aan de poorten van de (katten)hemel om terug te mogen keren naar de aarde. In een moment van empathie wekt de poortwachter hem tot leven met een reeks nieuwe levens. Wat hij zich niet meteen realiseert, is dat deze levens hem voorgoed zullen veranderen…
