Im England des ausgehenden 19. Jahrhunderts führt der brutale und verbitterte Marquess of Queensberry, der glaubt, dass sein jüngster Sohn Bosie ein unangemessenes Verhältnis mit dem berühmten irischen Schriftsteller Oscar Wilde hat, eine andauernde Fehde mit letzterem, um dessen Ruf zu ruinieren und ihn in Ungnade fallen zu lassen.
